Increasing feed grain exports from India is making it difficult for local poultry producers to negotiate local prices. Poultry Farmers and Breeders Association (Maharashtra), President, C Vasanthkumar told Asian Agribiz prices corn and soybean meal prices have gone up by 46% and 53% respectively. This has increased cost of production to historic highs of USD 1.37/kg. The USDA in November 2021, expected Indian corn exports to drop to 2.5mt in MY 2021/2022, from 3.59mt in 2020/2021. The war in Ukraine has made Indian corn attractive in the region.
