Pakistan will work with China to improve its sorghum cultivation for export and local feed consumption. Scientists from both countries state that sorghum would be an ideal crop during Pakistan’s hot and dry summers. The project, promoted by China’s Belt and Road initiative, has already conducted trials with five varieties. As China looks to alternatives to control rising feed raw material costs, sorghum from Pakistan is an attractive offer. In 2021, China imported over 9mt of sorghum, surging 95.6% from the previous year.
