The future of copper as a growth promoter in pigs

Environmental responsibility and long term sustainability are now influencing management and business decisions for pork producers and the affiliated industries. One area that has received more focus in recent times is the critical review of the requirements for trace minerals to meet production demands, but on the other hand to also limit the environmental impact of swine operations. STUART COURT reports recent research findings indicate that organic minerals as an alternative to the traditional inorganic forms used in animal diets may assist in addressing some of the production and environmental challenges currently confronting the swine industry.
