Indonesia’s pkm production and consumption on the rise


In 2024/25, USDA forecasts that Indonesia’s palm kernel meal (pkm) production will reach 6.45mt based on 12.23mt of palm kernel crushed from 6.4mt from 2023/24. Meanwhile, pkm consumption will reach 800,000 tons, up 50,000 tons from 2023/24, as demand increases for ruminant feed. In the first five months of 2023/24, exports reached 1.88mt, down 11% yoy. At least 55% of pkm exports went to the Netherlands and New Zealand since 2018/19, while shipments to Vietnam have grown 36% in the last five years.
