US soy adds sustainability value to Vietnam tilapia

US soy is extending its sustainability positioning beyond feed ingredients to the finished seafood products produced from them in Vietnam. At Vietfish 2026, Viet Nhat Group displayed tilapia fillets from fish fed diets containing US soy, with the Sustainable U.S. Soy logo carried on the finished-product packaging.

US Soybean Export Council (USSEC) Vietnam Representative Tran My Hanh said consumers are looking beyond price and quality to the origin and traceability of ingredients, production practices, and environmental impact.

USSEC said US soy can help feed producers meet international certification requirements, including those of Best Aquaculture Practices and the Aquaculture Stewardship Council.

The Viet Nhat products demonstrate how sustainability claims associated with a feed ingredient can move downstream to the consumer-facing product, potentially adding another marketable attribute to processed tilapia.
