China trials low-sbm diets and cut use by 9.1mt

China remains heavily dependent on soybean imports from the US and Brazil, but this could change with low crude protein diet programs.

China is encouraging feed producers to adopt low crude protein diets to reduce reliance on soybeans. A three-year plan sets an ambitious target of reducing sbm use to less than 13% by 2025 from 14.5% in 2022.
