Thailand suspends import of pork offal

Thailand has suspended the import of pork offal for more than a month now, said Somchuan Ratanamungklanon, Director-General of the Department of Livestock Development. The move is helping local pig farmers when pig and pork prices are low and could curb the entry of illegally imported pork. Previously, the country allowed import of up to 20,000 tons of uncooked pork offal, including liver and skin, annually from international suppliers like the EU.
