Thailand’s Department of Internal Trade (DIP) is conducting monthly inspections of cold storage facilities to ensure the pork there is safe and legally sourced. Since the ASF outbreaks and influx of smuggled pork into the country, authorities have been inspecting handling facilities nationwide. Of 421 cold storages inspected to date, 14 were cited for violations (12 for failing to report stocks to DIP as required by law, 2 for operating without a license). Legal action is underway against all 14 facilities.
