Green Rebel’s vegan chicken now at Nando’s Singapore

Nando’s Singapore has launched a plant-based menu option in collaboration with Indonesia’s plant-based protein brand Green Rebel. Nando’s will use the new meatless Chick’n Steak as part of its “The Great Pretender” campaign.

Helga Angelina Tjahjadi, Green Rebel co-founder and CEO said Green Rebel is the first plant-based brand the QSR is working with. The menu was launched on May 22 across all six Nando’s outlets island wide and will run until further notice.

Three options

Max Mandias, Green Rebel co-founder and Chief Innovation Officer told Asian Agribiz there are three meatless sandwich options (wrap, burger, or pita), each filled with juicy grilled meatless Green Rebel Chick’n Steak, romaine lettuce, creamy cheddar cheese, tomatoes, basting sauce and smoked chili packed with Nando’s signature Peri-Peri sauce. Option to make it vegan by removing cheese from the dish.

Prices are the same as Nando’s regular offerings, as follows:
● Plant-based Classic Wrap with one regular side: USD 11.79
● Plant-based Classic Burger with one regular side: USD 11.05
● Plant-based Classic Pita with one regular side: USD 11.05

The Greater Pretender campaign

“It’s a global initiative by the South African brand to support healthy and inclusive eating by presenting plant-based versions of Nando’s dishes for diners who wish to reduce their meat consumption or explore alternative protein sources, but not the flavor or eating experience,” Mrs Tjahjadi told Asian Agribiz.

The new sandwich contains 18g of protein per serving and 7g of fiber, the equivalent of 250g of spinach, and on its own contains no cholesterol, making it a great base for creative plant-based chicken dishes.
