Indonesia will reduce the preventive use of antimicrobials in livestock by up to 40% by 2029. The Ministry of Agriculture and the FAO recently launched a roadmap to achieve this target. Nasrullah, Director General of Livestock and Animal Health, said antimicrobial misuse accelerates antimicrobial resistance (AMR), one of the biggest global public health threats. “This roadmap will assist all stakeholders in combating AMR, particularly in the livestock sector, and increase the participation of all sectors in implementing prudent and responsible antimicrobial use,” he explained.
