Pigs in several districts of Kupang regency in East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia, have died suddenly of unknown causes, said regency legislator Deasy Ballo. Although the number of deaths is low, it poses a serious threat to pig farmers, and samples are under testing to determine the cause. “There are concerns the deaths might be related to ASF or hog cholera. We are still investigating. For now, we urge farmers to disinfect their farms to prevent outbreaks,” Yoseph A Paulus of the Regency Livestock Agency added.
