Monitoring and controlling the movement of pigs are critical in curbing ASF in Malaysia. “We only think about biosecurity at the farm level, but we often forget that we must control how the pigs are moved around when they are already ASF-infected,” Dr Ng Siew Thiam told Asian Agribiz. “If they are being sent to different states or districts, naturally the virus will spread. Monitoring needs to be done at the transport level too.”
