Myanmar’s corn exports are expected to reach a record high of 1.7mt in 2023, driven by steady demand from China and Thailand. In its Global Information and Early Warning System on Food and Agriculture report, FAO forecast Myanmar’s total cereal exports in MY 2022/23 to hit 4.3mt, 15% above the average volume. In 2022, Myanmar’s corn production was at an above-average level of 2.2mt, thanks to favorable weather. The grain is attracting buyers from Asian countries due to constraints in other traditional supply sources.
