South Korea reports new ASF outbreak

South Korea’s Agriculture Ministry reported an ASF outbreak at a pig farm in Cheorwon county, about 71km northeast of Seoul, on November 9. It marked the first case since September, when the disease broke out at a farm in Gangwon’s Chuncheon city. Authorities have ordered the culling of nearly 5500 heads as a preventive measure and issued a 24-hour standstill order in the northern part of Gangwon and the adjacent Gyeonggi province. Despite the outbreak, the ministry said the current ASF situation is unlikely to affect the country’s pork supply.
