Universal Feed Mill Corp (Unifeeds), a feed producer based in Cebu, the Philippines, has signed a Corn Growing and Marketing Agreement with Husanama, a group of agrarian reform beneficiaries in the province. The agreement targets 15ha for initial planting. It aims to boost local corn production and provide a livelihood for farmers’ organizations. Unifeeds will provide technical assistance and an assured market. Rey Evangelista, Unifeeds’ Assistant Vice President, told Asian Agribiz that this is just the first of the company’s corn projects in Cebu and more agreements are coming.
