High corn prices motivate plantings in Bangladesh

Corn prices in Bangladesh reached a record high of USD 0.31/kg alongside international prices. Increased demand from the animal feed sector is also driving prices, motivating more farmers to plant this year. According to the Department of Agricultural Extension, farmers have planted 3.5% more corn this year compared to 2021. All grain is used in the animal feed industry, which has complained of high prices this season. Bangladeshi feedmillers say average grain prices have increased by 57% yoy.
