BAI confirms IBH cases increasing in the Philippines

The Philippine Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) has confirmed that cases of inclusion body hepatitis (IBH) are rising in the country. BAI Director Reildrin Morales said the disease, which is caused by fowl adenoviruses, poses a threat to the poultry industry because of its high mortality rate. He did not provide data as to the number of cases. Dr Morales noted that BAI has issued special import permits for autogenous vaccines to control the spread of IBH since vaccines available in the country do not match the current strain present in the country.
