Jababeka to develop sustainable fishery industry in Morotai

Indonesia’s Jababeka Morotai has built a consortium with Ocean Mitramas and Indo Numfor Pacific to develop a fishery industry in the Morotai Special Economic Region in North Maluku province. CEO Basuri Tjahaja Purnama said Morotai produces 6272 tons of caught fish annually while the potential is 68,500 tons. “Through the consortium, we want to increase the province’s productivity while following standards of a sustainable fishery,” he added. The industry development will include fish processing and cold storage units catering to both international and local markets.
