Early feeding critical for broiler performance and health

Providing broilers with feed early is critical to maintaining bird performance and health. Optimum bird performance starts even before birds arrive on the farm, said Wilmer Pacheco of Auburn University at a conference organized by Ussec in Jakarta. “In some studies, the nutrient blends are even injected at incubation on day 18 (in ovo feeding).” Dr Pacheco continued that early feeding would stimulate the absorption of the yolk in the yolk sac, reduce pathogens, and encourage the development of the immune system.
