Chemical company Lanxess is expanding production capacity for chlorocresol (Preventol CMK), an active ingredient for disinfection and preservation.

With the Covid-19 pandemic, and the spread of ASF and avian influenza, demand for disinfectants has risen significantly, brought about by the growing importance of hygiene and biosecurity.

Disinfectants based on chlorocresol help contain disease spread and reduce the use of antibiotics in animal protein production.

“With the additional capacities, we remain a reliable partner for our customers and can continue to meet the increased demand for Preventol CMK in the disinfection industry,” said Matthias Arnold, Head of Actives & Disinfection Business Line at Lanxess’ Material Protection Products Business Unit.
