The Indian poultry industry is trying to keep chicken prices affordable amid rising production costs. Farm prices of live chicken reached USD 0.37-0.40/kg for the first time, Anjan Goswami, General Secretary of the Karnataka Poultry Farmers and Breeders Association (KPFBA), told Asian Agribiz. He fears these high prices are affecting consumption, which is expected to drop starting June with the advent of religious festivals. The KPFBA has appealed to the government to control corn hoarding to lower production costs and keep chicken prices stable.
