US pork exports to the China/Hong Kong market fell 29% in volume and 27% in value in 2021, the US Meat Export Federation (Usmef) said. Nevertheless, Usmef said the region “remains a critical destination.” However, exports to other Asian markets increased in volume and value. The Philippines took in 78,639 tons of US pork last year, a 69% rise year-on-year (yoy), while value surged 78%. Exports to South Korea increased 6% to 167,012 tons and jumped 23% in value. Japan imported 2% more at 394,492 tons, with value rising 4% yoy.
