India poultry production to fall on slow consumption

Indian poultry associations have recommend curtailing production amid a bearish market. Current broiler prices have not balanced up to high production costs as prices of soy and corn remain elevated. “The Horeca sector has not reopened, and people are reluctant to eat out, so consumption is lower than expected. But farmers have ramped up production to 2019 levels,” C Vasanthkumar, President of the Maharashtra Poultry Farmers and Breeders Association, told Asian Agribiz. Consumption is expected to decrease further in April due to religious festivals.
