Berdikari, Indonesia’s state-owned integrated livestock company, said it is ready to import beef and buffalo meat (carabeef) this year if the government approves. Operational Director Muhammad Hasyim said that in 2020, the government assigned Berdikari to import 50,000 tons of Indian carabeef and 10,000 tons of Brazilian beef. Last year, it received an assignment to import 20,000 tons of Brazilian beef. Mr Hasyim said the imports were meant to stabilize the local beef prices and meet growing demand.
