The big question that looms as heavy as a laden cloud over us is ‘how will the pandemic play out in our industry?’ in 2022. As The Economist put it, some things will ‘cancel out’. 2021 brought immense challenges but also some semblance of coping in the new norm, with virtual meetings, greater adoption of technology, data analytics even to monitor livestock disease threats, biosecurity breaches and much more. Some things that will cancel out (partly at least) are travel, in-person events and wet markets, giving rise to greater online engagement, modernization, and safety protocols.
