Improving FCR does more than improving efficiencies

Improving the broiler’s FCR enhances efficiency and contributes to environmental and social sustainability. Less feed demand would translate to less land needed for feed crops, said Peter Fisher, President of Aviagen Asia in a podcast with Asian Agribiz. It also reduces negative outputs like nitrates and phosphates, thus reducing greenhouse gas emissions. “By focusing on these elements [driving] efficiency, we not only make the birds more efficient but we use fewer resources and reduce the negative outputs, touching on various goals that [seem] in conflict, but are actually interlinked,” he said.
