GAA supplementation boosts broiler performance

Supplementing broiler diets with guanidino acetic acid (GAA) can improve creatine synthesis in birds. This leads to better FCR, performance, hatchability, fertility, and meat quality in both layers and broilers, Balachandar Jayaraman, Technical Service Manager at Evonik, explained at a separate seminar following Day 2 of Asian Agribiz’s Broiler Feed Quality Conference. Using trial data, he also showed that GAA supplementation helped ease heat stress in birds. It acts as a backup energy store and protects mitochondria in heat-stressed cells. These benefits lead to feed cost savings for producers, he added.
