What makes your feedmill tick?

Getting good quality feed is a constant concern for livestock producers and delivering the right feed according to what the customer wants is an even bigger challenge. One of the key tools in the armour of a feedmiller is a working ‘Feed Quality Control Program’ but this often needs to be updated and revised to keep the wheels on the mill rolling.

Asian Agribiz spoke to veteran feedmiller John Smillie formerly from the Canadian Feed Research Centre, to find out about what factors are crucial when measuring feed ‘quality’ in a feedmill. In this podcast, he touches on:

• Factors which determine feed/pellet quality

• The details that we miss when designing successful feed quality control programs

• Does your choice of machinery matter?

• Who holds the key to a successful program?
