ND outbreaks in Malaysia disrupt supply, raise prices

Malaysian poultry producers are worried that the Newcastle disease (ND) outbreaks in the country would lead to lower supply and higher prices.

“While markets reopen and demand grows, we may have some supply limitations from ND outbreaks in both layers and broilers,” Shawn Gun, Assistant General Manager of Safe Egg Corp told Asian Agribiz.

“This could lead to higher prices for chicken meat and eggs while farms rush to vaccinate their flocks. Plus, egg and meat quality might suffer if they come from diseased flocks,” he added.
