Meat from the Black Bengal goat in Bangladesh has export potential if its quality is maintained. However, indiscriminate breeding is diluting its gene pool, lowering quality. The breed produces lean and healthy meat, M A Hashem, Head of the Bangladesh Meat Science Association, told Asian Agribiz. He explained that a lack of government policy on breeding was affecting the uniqueness of this meat. “Black Bengal meat has a unique flavor and can be exported if its quality is raised,” said Dr Hashem.
