SFA fines company for illegal meat, seafood imports

The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) fined a Singaporean importer USD 22,000 for illegally operating a cold storage facility and importing assorted meat and seafood from South Korea. SFA officers inspected Koryo Trading’s premises in February 2020 and seized 4.6 tons of meat and seafood products in an unlicensed cold storage. These included meat dumplings, frozen beef, and processed squid and 72kg of pufferfish. SFA dictates that meat and meat products can only be imported from accredited sources in approved countries.
