More than higher shipping costs, demand disruption due to ASF and Covid-19 has contributed to today’s market crisis. Rupert Claxton, consultant at market research firm Gira, told Asian Agribiz that ASF impacted the animal protein industry in Asia. The pork shortage put stress on all meat supplies, including chicken, beef, and even fish. Covid-19 made things worse. “This is unique in 20 years. We have not seen a situation like this.
