Outbreaks of Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome (PRRS) continue in Indonesia. Even though the disease is not a big problem, pig farmers must raise prevention and control measures against PRRS, said Mikael Darmawan, owner of the Cipta Jaya pig farm. “Currently, ASF is our biggest problem. But we must remain alert about PRRS since it causes reproductive problems, bad respiratory conditions, and high mortality,” he told Asian Agribiz. “We must focus on vaccination to prevent and control PRRS. Currently, vaccines available have cross-protection.”
